The body you have right now, at this very moment, is a bikini body.
Since you were old enough to buy Cosmo you’ve been bombarded with the same images of toned 21 year olds with perfect smiles and matchy matchy active wear.
The media, the diet industry and many fitness professionals will have you believe a bikini body is something that needs to be created. Something that needs to be achieved. Something that needs to be worked for, suffered for and lusted after.
Diet culture tells you your body is not ‘right’ for a bikini.
Diet culture is wrong.
The ‘bikini body’ is something so many women (including me) have suffered many a workout for, lost sleep over and spent thousands of dollars trying to obtain.
Well drown me in a tub of Brie, I’ve had enough!
Enough of someone else deciding if I have a bikini body.
Enough of magazines telling me what type of shorts I can wear ‘for my shape.’
Enough of trying to fit all women into the same teeny tiny kale shaped box.
It’s time to diversify the meaning of a ‘bikini body.’
The more we embrace our bodies, the stronger we are in the fight against an industry that quashes our amazing differences.
Will you stand with me?
